It is the first book to provide readers a practical, user-friendly and thought-provoking guide to gaining a newfound control and understanding of their relationship with the media. This researched, seasoned manual provides specific guidelines, important areas for thought, creative options and life-changing opportunities. FAST MEDIA, MEDIA FAST also shows how to take control of the media choices in our lives. This book is not a judgmental, media-bashing sermon, but rather an inspiring guide to cultural nutrition. In fact, most people do not typically choose to eliminate all media from their lives when they return from a fast, but rather make more informed and conscious choices about what to consume, how much, when, and why. Fasters also return more rested, revitalized, and thoughtful, often excited about new directions and purpose, or about being better organized and centered. The reader of FAST MEDIA, MEDIA FAST will find out how to eliminate or minimize problems - stress, overwork, waste, burn-out, fuzziness, speed-up, apathy, emptiness, ebbing relationships -- which come from media overdoses in our modern world. She will learn that there are alternatives which allow us to regain control over our lives. ♥ Book Title : Fully Connected
☯ Full Synopsis : "In 1946, the World Health Organization defined health as: "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Until now, no one has defined this third dimension to health, or described strategies to deliver it. This ground-breaking book is the first to do so. Twenty-five years after the arrival of the Internet, we are drowning in data and deadlines; we can never have imagined that our daily intake of information and achieving a healthy balance in our personal and professional lives could feel so complex and so unhealthy. In recent years, organizations have come a long way towards promoting health literacy (on obesity, smoking, diet, and exercise) and some way in acknowledging mental health issues. But acknowledging the challenges of the Internet and social media on employee and workplace health is the social element, and most have not yet begun to offer solutions around either better information and knowledge management, or developing better and more sustaining relationships. The challenges, threats, and opportunities of a "perma-connected" global economy and society could not be greater-and they will only increase. This is the first book to define what social health means in both society and the modern workplace. Here, Julia Hobsbawm argues that developing social health will help employees become more efficiently engaged with each other and their work, and help employers to create workplaces that support social health and thus greater productivity."Article| Julia Hobsbawm| Statement ..."
♥ Book Title : Exploring the Effect of Overload on the Discontinuous Intention of Social Media Users: An S-O-R Perspective
☯ Full Synopsis : "Abstract: Pervasive social media access has induced excessive technology use that can lead to overload, which may produce negative psychological and behavioral consequences for people who suffer from it. Drawing on the S-O-R framework, we develop a research model to explore the effect of overload on the discontinuous intention of social media users, and propose three types of overload in the social media context: information, communication, and social overloads. They are assumed to impact the internal psychological states (i.e., exhaustion and regret) of users, which in turn motivate them to quit. An empirical study of 258Chinese social media users provides general support for our hypotheses. However, the impact of information overload on regret is insignificant; the relationship between communication overload and exhaustion is also insignificant. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed. Highlights: We extend prior studies that addressing the termination phase of the IS life cycle. We enrich the existing technostress literature on users' emotion and psychology. We extend the applicability of the S-O-R model to the technostress domain."Article| no defined| Statement ..."
