♥ Book Title : The Knossos Labyrinth
☯ Full Synopsis : "Knossos, like the Acropolis or Stonehenge, is a symbol for an entire culture. The Knossos Labyrinth was first built in the reign of a Middle Kingdom Egyptian pharaoh, and was from the start the focus of a glittering and exotic culture. Homer left elusive clues about the Knossian court and when the lost site of Knossos gradually re-emerged from obscurity in the nineteenth century, the first excavators - Minos Kalokairinos, Heinrich Schliemann, and Arthur Evans - were predisposed to see the site through the eyes of the classical authors. Rodney Castleden argues that this line of thought was a false trail and gives an alternative insight into the labyrinth which is every bit as exciting as the traditional explanations, and one which he believes is much closer to the truth. Rejecting Evans' view of Knossos as a bronze age royal palace, Castleden puts forward alternative interpretations - that the building was a necropolis or a temple - and argues that the temple interpretation is the most satisfactory in the light of modern archaeological knowledge about Minoan Crete."Article| Rodney Castleden| Statement ..."
♥ Book Title : Gnostic Tarot
☯ Full Synopsis : "Gnostic Tarot presents an exciting new path for people who want to use the tarot as a guide for spiritual development. Lee Irwin synthesizes the more traditional forms of interpretation with a new esoteric method based on the contemporary theories of Hermetic and Gnostic spirituality. He has developed ten Mandalas (akin to tarot spreads) for you to use as meditative structures for contemplating the interconnection between the natural elements and consciousness as reflected by the imagery of the cards. Irwin provides a detailed discussion of the esoteric history and structure of the tarot, and explores the symbolism of the Four Suits, The Inner (Minor) Court Cards, and the Major Arcana Cards as illustrated by the Ravenswood and Waite decks. His wellwritten and deeply insightful interpretations of tarot imagery will inspire you to see the sacred in everything surrounding you. By using Irvins Mandalas, mediations, and visualization exercises, you can learn to align your physical, mental, and emotional life with your spiritual growth, to affect an alchemical transformation through the realization of your souls purpose."Article| Lee Irwin| Statement ..."

♥ Book Title : Nonlinear Approximation Theory
☯ Full Synopsis : "The first investigations of nonlinear approximation problems were made by P.L. Chebyshev in the last century, and the entire theory of uniform approxima tion is strongly connected with his name. By making use of his ideas, the theories of best uniform approximation by rational functions and by polynomials were developed over the years in an almost unified framework. The difference between linear and rational approximation and its implications first became apparent in the 1960's. At roughly the same time other approaches to nonlinear approximation were also developed. The use of new tools, such as nonlinear functional analysis and topological methods, showed that linearization is not sufficient for a complete treatment of nonlinear families. In particular, the application of global analysis and the consideration of flows on the family of approximating functions intro duced ideas which were previously unknown in approximation theory. These were and still are important in many branches of analysis. On the other hand, methods developed for nonlinear approximation prob lems can often be successfully applied to problems which belong to or arise from linear approximation. An important example is the solution of moment problems via rational approximation. Best quadrature formulae or the search for best linear spaces often leads to the consideration of spline functions with free nodes. The most famous problem of this kind, namely best interpolation by poly nomials, is treated in the appendix of this book."Article| Dietrich Braess| Statement ..."

♥ Book Title : An Introduction to Western Sidereal Astrology
☯ Full Synopsis : "In this easy to read book, Ken Bowser presents the basics of sidereal astrology from the viewpoint of a Western astrologer. Both astrologers and students of the science will appreciate the clear and helpful delineation of the planets, signs, houses, and aspects as presented in the sidereal chart. Ken also examines the forty-five planet combinations, looking at each in depth and presenting the unique characteristics each represents. All of these principles are illustrated with examples that serve as a guide for interpretation. Also included are three appendices: historical information, the origin of the exaltations, and the tropical-sidereal debate. An Introduction to Western Sidereal Astrology is a modest title for this excellent book, which provides a basic overview of sidereal astrology as it has developed in the West since the rediscovery of the ancient Babylonian sidereal zodiac at the end of the nineteenth century. Arising out of forty years of practice with sidereal astrology, this book is a gift to the world, representing the reemergence in our time of an astrology based upon the actual positions of the stars themselves and offering insightful interpretations of the stellar script as it comes to expression in the horoscope. - Robert Powell Ph.D., author of History of the Zodiac and many other works, and co-author of the recently published book The Astrological Revolution. With An Introduction to Western Sidereal Astrology, Ken Bowser has produced a valuable contribution to a literature that is both scholarly and practical. His careful, well-resourced explanations of the Babylonian origination of the zodiac (fixed to the celestial sphere and not their equinoxes) and its reintroduction into modern astrology, are a must-read for both students and professionals. On the practical side, he shows astrologers who want to try out the sidereal zodiac how to use it in everyday work. His outstanding planet combinations, which are independent of the zodiac, can be used by anyone and everyone who wants to master the art of astrology.--Ken Irving, Editor, American Astrology, Horoscope Guide Bowser skillfully and eloquently leads the reader through a tour of the complex issues at the heart of the zodiac issue with a level of clarity that can only be conveyed by someone who has attained a deep and comprehensive understanding of his subject. Ken Bowser is incontrovertibly qualified to write the book of this title, and he has chosen his moment well.--Deborah Houlding, Editor, The Traditional Astrologer and skyscript.co.uk"Article| Kenneth Bowser| Statement ..."
