☯ Full Synopsis : "New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown brings together two wounded hearts in a Texas romance of second chances and twice-in-a-lifetime true love. Inheriting the Magnolia Inn, a Victorian home nestled in the East Texas pines, is a fantasy come true for Jolene Broussard. After living with the guilt of failing to rescue her self-destructive mother, Jolene knows her aunt and uncle's B&B is the perfect jump start for a new life and a comforting place to call home. There's just one hitch: stubborn and moody carpenter Tucker Malone. He's got a half interest in the Magnolia Inn, and he's planting his dusty cowboy boots squarely in the middle of her dream. Ever since his wife's death, Tucker's own guilt and demons have left him as guarded as Jolene. The last thing he expects is for his new partner to stir something inside him he thought was gone forever. And as wary as Jolene is, she may have found a kindred spirit--someone she can help, and someone she can hold on to. Restoring the Magnolia Inn is the first step toward restoring their hearts. Will they be able to let go of the past and trust each other to do it together?"Article| Carolyn Brown| Statement ..."

☯ Full Synopsis : ""Here's a delightful little book to warm the hearts of young children and teach them how to experience the joy of giving and receiving. Just think of all the little buckets this book will fill with love and encouragement." —Dr. Kevin Leman, author of Have a New Kid by Friday The day you were born was a very happy day. You are a special gift. Everyone was so happy to see you. But, there was one part of you that they could not see. It was your bucket, your invisible bucket. While using a simple metaphor of a bucket full of hearts and stars, authors Carol McCloud and Katherine Martin, M.A. illustrate, in the sweetest of ways, that we are all born with an invisible bucket and that our bucket holds all of our good thoughts and feelings. This book highlights the many ways that families and caregivers use to fill the buckets of children but also gives young children simple ideas on how to BE a bucket filler as well. This 24-page picture book is perfect for children, parents, grandparents, teachers and people that want to teach empathy, nurture kindness and create a positive environment in their home, classroom, workplace and community. ☯ Full Synopsis : "Raw and honest, Bearskin Diary gives voice to a generation of First Nations women who have always been silenced, at a time when movements like Idle No More call for a national inquiry into the missing and murdered Aboriginal women. Carol Daniels adds an important perspective to the Canadian literary landscape. Taken from the arms of her mother as soon as she was born, Sandy was only one of over twenty thousand Aboriginal children scooped up by the federal government between the 1960s and 1980s. Sandy was adopted by a Ukrainian family and grew up as the only First Nations child in a town of white people. Ostracized by everyone around her and tired of being different, at the early age of five she tried to scrub the brown off her skin. But she was never sent back into the foster system, and for that she considers herself lucky. From this tragic period in her personal life and in Canadian history, Sandy does not emerge unscathed, but she emerges strong—finding her way by embracing the First Nations culture that the Sixties Scoop had tried to deny. Those very roots allow Sandy to overcome the discriminations that she suffers every day from her co-workers, from strangers and sometimes even from herself."Article| Carol Daniels| Statement ..."

☯ Full Synopsis : "Striking images of a certain Indian goddess have been variously referred to as the "shameless woman" the "nude squatting goddess," the "mother goddess," or, because her historical name remains unknown, more than twenty-five names, among them Aditi, Lajjā Gaurī, Renukā, and Nagna Kabambdha. The best-known images of this goddess have a female torso and a lotus flower in place of a head, while her legs are bent up at the knees and drawn up to each side in a position that has been described as one of "giving birth" or "self-display." This type of goddess figure is explained as part of a long, highly sophisticated tradition of expressing fertility and well-being in Indian art. The artists creating images of Lajjā Gaurī drew on various ancient symbols of fortune, fertility, and life-force to communicate her power through their rich heritage of meanings. As these historical-religious symbols and images were constantly reused and reincorporated, they formed a new and enriched religious context. In the process of recycling they became empowered cultural metaphors, visual morphemes in the language of Indian art. Because there are no texts to explain the figure, the study proceeds from the basis of the objects to derive their meaning. Carol Bolon charts the changes in the goddess's form over a period of more than four centuries, including its possible adoption from tribal worship into Hindu temples, and brings a new appreciation of Lajjā Gaurī's rich symbolic meanings and cultural context."Article| Carol R.
